History

The first Solar air panel was invented over 20yrs ago, by a Danish engineer, Hans Jørgen Christensen, one of the pioneers in solar energy technology. He wanted to use the sun’s energy for airing and ventilation. A system that would be safe, simple, without the need for radiators, water and/or mains electricity. At first the panel was designed for the thousands of holiday homes on the West coast of Jutland – houses that were left empty and unheated for long periods – houses with damp problems, mould and bad odours – houses that left their owners owners with discomfort, lots of work and expense.

Simplicity

Solarventi is characterised by its simplicity. The only components being a solar air panel, a PV-cell and a potent 12-Volt fan. Solar heated air is introduced in the building by means of a solar driven fan. The concept is as simple as that.. It is completely independent and self-contained. As there are no electrical or water connections and everything is manufactured out of shock proof materials, it is completely safe with nothing to leak or break. The system is ideally suited to being left running – even when you are not there!

Exceeding all Expectations

The initial models were installed under Scandinavian climatic conditions, where 4-5 hours a sun a week, during the winter period, would be a realistic assumption. This proved more than sufficient to keep the property dry and ventilated. Many of  the very first solar air panels t hat were installed over 20 years ago are still operating. Since that time, the technology has really come along leaps and bounds. The latest versions are compact, slimline models with the PV-cell and the fan incorporated. Now, more than 20 years later, the 3rd and 4th generation SolarVenti have exceeded all expectations. Indeed the company Solarventi Ltd, was classified as a 'Gazelle' company by the Danish governement, in 2006. Meaning that it is one of the fastest growing companies and one to watch.

SolarVenti in Southern Europe - a welcome heat supplement

In 1992 the first solar air panels were installed in Andalusia. It soon became apparent that under these climatic conditions, the panels could be used for more than ventilation/dehumidification purposes. With far more winter sunshine hours, Solarventi also provided a substantial heating supplement. As winters DO get cold on Costa del Sol it is a useful addition. Several technical and governmental studies show that incoming air temperature can be increased by as much as 40°C. During the hot summer months there a different ways of controlling/adjusting the fan operation and/or temperatures, and the system is protected against overheating.

Economical, Healthy and Green

There are numerous advantages of having a SolarVenti installed - along with a free heating supplement, it reduces damp/condensation, thereby banishing mildew and mould.  In doing so, offers all the health benefits associated with having warm, dry circulated into a closed space (helping people with allergies, asthma, etc) and reduces our carbon footprint.

Solarventi is completely solar powered,-  there are no running and/or maintenance costs. It really is, an install and forget product. Following the patenting of its most recent design in 2001, Solarventi has only recently been actively commercialized. Over the last few years,Solarventi units have been installed in more than 24 countries. As more and more people are becoming aware of its capabilities, demand is increasing expediently. It is a technology that works.
